29th Nov 2011 - Amusement
Today I started to create a pattern within my 3D forms. Using inspiration from my previous drawings I started to cut into tracing paper creating cut-out lines and dashes. I added hits of colour with vibrant fine liners to create a more exciting visual effect. I really liked the finished look of this piece. I liked how I had created more lines and pattern into my 3D form and I feel this helped me produce a more successful drawing. I really want to investigate and make a 3D form out of mesh and string. I think this medium will help to create an interesting and detailed piece. I think I will use thread to add hints of colour. I also worked with charcoal today which I feel worked well on white paper. The thick strokes are dramatic and created a distinctive shape. My next step is to venture more 3D sculpture materials for example wire and mesh. I feel this will excite me more than paper. I feel the paper was a good starting point but I now need to branch out onto new types of media before going back to paper.
