30th Nov 2011- Backwards and Happy Progress
Today I finally created a 3D form that I was very happy and pleased with. I started working with different materials but this lead me back to paper. The mesh seemed to confuse and complicate my possible designs. The coloured string I felt had no impact. Anyway I started to use strong ice white paper. I worked with the concept of a 'rose' theme, referring to my previous drawings of 3 folds of paper which was my starting point for this project. I began folding and twisting to achieve twirl-like effects. I made paper swirls in different scales. I am really happy with this 3D sculpture. I feel it has a lot of scope and opportunity for possible experimental work. The fact that I'm enthused and excited about it will allow me to create exciting process drawings. I'm also interested in introducing one to two colours of similar tones into my 49 sequence of drawings. I believe this will add energy and originality to the overall look of the piece.
